Here at Woven Wings HQ, we have long loved our Bourette silk. It’s bespeckled beauty is a visual feast for the eyes. When woven alongside our Luxury Egyptian cotton, a simple Bourette takes on an entirely new look!
As our toddlers got bigger and heavier, we still found our Bourette wraps to be incredibly supportive-- though not very cushy. We wanted to develop a wrap that married the strength of bourette with the squishy softness of our double-weave wraps. This could wrap would be the epitome of CUSH!
And thus, our tiles were created. We started simply with a basic block tile design-- but that didn’t fully allow for the amazing interplay of the speckled bourette with the cotton. So, we looked to develop the block tile design to enhance the visual playfulness when wrapped. And diamond tiles were created. At first glance, the diamond shapes are at the same time a simple, universal design pattern. However, up close the interplay between the speckled bourette, the variety of of tile gradations and double warps creates a complex, three-dimensional design.
The first of our double weave, diamond tiles wraps features kingfisher, seafoam, and celery tiles speckled with charcoal and grey bourette against a creamy white contrast. Diamond tiles is 16% bourette silk and 84% Egyptian cotton.
Like our other bourette silks, diamond tiles will arrive unfinished and must be handwashed in lukewarm water to maintain the quality of the silk. Diamond tiles is strong enough for heavy toddlers but softens up very quickly with just a few wears and is soft enough for small babies. Diamond tiles weighs approximately 320 gr/m2 after a little breaking in.

My vision for wraps wasn’t simply to introduce another wrap to the market. I wanted to create innovative wraps, woven from luxurious materials that were designed, manufactured and sold in the UK and abroad. Whether a mum is new or already familiar with babywearing products, I wanted my products to be lovingly conceived and appeal to all.
Woven Wings Baby wraps are woven in the UK in a renowned Mill specialising solely in bespoke high-end quality textiles. Established since 1720 working in collaboration with luxury Fashion houses and couture designers they produce fabrics that are of the highest quality and demand. Fibres are carefully and ethically sourced, and all yarns are dyed in-house allowing for one-of-kind colours. Some of my wraps will feature our non-chemical luxurious finish which makes them blankety soft straight out of the bag and requires no breaking in.
