I love entrusting Kali with my photo sessions! She’s a very sensitive person, who has a magical command of the light. When it came to photographing this stunning new embroidery, her immediate thought was to go to a candy store filled with pink sweets. I would have loved such a backdrop, as it would have been the perfect match for the soft colour of this model, but in the end, it wasn’t to be.
Kali had to find a new location, and a covered one at that, as spring was still to come. “I’ve found it Krisztina!” she wrote to me not long after. As usual, I trusted her completely and gave her free rein. When she showed me the series of photos she’d taken with Mélanie and her adorable little boy, Rayan, I immediately fell under their spell. Looking at the photos, one after the other, each one portraying maternal love, I realised that tenderness doesn’t come from a backdrop. It is there, wherever there is a mother, a parent, gazing lovingly and protectively upon their child.
