Eclipse - single & double layer ikat handwoven cotton slings
We are smitten by the raw beauty of handwoven cotton and are convinced that they make excellent ring slings!
Ikat is a unique dyeing technique used to pattern textiles.Traditional weavers use a painstakingly slow resist dyeing process, in which bundles of threads are bound together with a tight water-proof wrapping to restrict spreading. Either the warp or weft is then dyed to create beautiful patterns. The bindings can be altered and may be dyed again with multiple colours to produce elaborate, multicolored patterns. When the dyeing is finished the bindings are removed and the threads are woven into fabric.
'Eclipse' Ikat slings use 'Double Ikat' fabric. 'Double Ikat' dying and weaving is rare and exclusive! It involves dying of both the warp and the weft, and requires the highest level of skill for exquisite patterns to be woven. It is considered the most premiere form of Ikat requiring the most precise skills and patience. Tremendous amounts of labor and experience are required, resulting in the high-quality, luxurious and unique fabric. Eclipse single layer slings are perfect for infants and smaller babies.
Soul Ikat ring slings are carefully crafted from hand-woven and hand-dyed textile. The fabric is soft and lush, resulting in lightweight ring slings.
Our single layer eclipse slings are ligh, thin and porfect for newborn babies and infants. Double layer eclipse slings on the other hand are a lot more supportive making it better for heavier babies and toddlers.
