The standing stones of Scotland are an iconic scene for many travelers who visit them. They are shrouded in mystery to those who do not know their meaning. To those people, it is simply a place. But, to those who know, they are a place of sacred meaning and ritual gathering. A place for those who are within their embrace to find strength and peace among their community. This custom, "Dawn of Beltane", celebrates the May holiday of Druid origins where the earth wakes up from its winter slumber and begins anew with the hope of a bountiful harvest to come.
With a speckle dyed warp, the pink of sunlight rises from the base of the stones meeting the sky to create a beautiful blend of teal and purple. Using a clasped weft, the stones are woven into the light making them appear as though the light may even be shining through them.
