I have added pictures of the fabric now that it is woven. They still need to be cut and hemmed and are still expected in March.
PLEASE NOTE: due to yarn availability, the color has been changed slightly to this browner hue (shown in the picture) that is less orange-red than the original mock-up.
An intricate floral henna design in chocolate brown, Henna is being woven in a cotton/hemp blend for the famous Natibaby hemp softness and support with even heavy toddlers!
I am a hippie at heart, and this henna design makes me so happy. It reminds me of the henna on my hands when I visited India and all the beauty and joy of that culture. It even reminds me of the illustrations in the tattered copy of Spiritual Midwifery that my husband's mother passed down to me when I was pregnant with my first baby.
But the significance is not just personal: through the centuries and across cultures, henna decorations have commemorated joy.
In henna symbolism, flowers represent joy and happiness while vines and leaves are for longevity, devotion, perseverance, and vitality (all important to mothering our young ones) and for entwined lives - perfect for the mother-baby dyad.
Natibaby hemp blends are very popular because they are strong and supportive for comfortably carrying heavier babies and toddlers. They can be stiff and crunchy when they arrive but do not be dismayed--it will soften up quickly with washing and use so that you will have a wonderfully soft and delicious wrap
