Finally, we are ready to make our first release. We have worked hard for more than a year now, and we are really proud of the result. May we introduce to you The Lost Achipelago.
We have named this very special wrap after a very special place on the Island of Lolland where we both grew up and have spent a lot of our first years together as a couple.
On November 13, 1872 Lolland experienced one of the greatest natural disasters in the history of Denmark. It was a Storm flood that made the water levels rise 3,5 metres above average on the South Coast of Lolland causing massive damage and losses.
To keep the water out in the future and to avoid this from happening ever again, the people of Lolland (the Lolliks) started building dikes between the surrounding islands as well as along large parts of the coastline and within a few years they had created a net of dikes and many of the smaller Islands became forever part of Lolland. This ‘new’ land was called the Lost Archipelago and is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful places we know.
This wrap weighs approx. 320 gr/m2 and is woven from linen and Egyptian Giza cotton yarns that are certified by OEKO-tex. It will only need a little breaking in and it will become soft enough to carry smaller children but this wrap is indeed toddler worthy. The Lost Archipelago is easy to tighten from first use and the nubs from the linen along with the pattern Vinger, gives the fabric structure and great grip.
Our pattern Design, Vinger, is created by the Danish Textile designer Eva Louise Hauge who was inspired by an old Danish lullaby. The wings are a symbol of the protection and love that a wrap can facilitate between a parent and their child.
