The lovely colors in Barefoot Rainbow celebrate the feel of the earth between your toes and the tenacious persistence of growing things that push up through the ground to reach for the sun. It evokes the feel of your bare feet running through the grass with the wind in your hair. This wrap was inspired by the bright colors of music festivals gently muted by the shades of uncovered skin and dirt-caked soles, making for a sweetly sentimental coloring in the rainbow stripes.
This wrap is 100% cotton twill so it is easy to care for and does not need babying. The wrap can be machine washed, may be ironed and occasionally – if haste is required – even dried in tumble-driers.
Girasol's twill weave is a popular, soft and cuddly choice for wrapping your baby. It is soft brand new which makes it easier for a new wrapper to learn to use.
This wrap was handwoven in Guatemala under fair trade practices, making it an ethical consumer choice and perfect for those who wish to support artisans. Barefoot Rainbow wraps were woven by Pedro Alba, Sta. Lucia Utatlan, Canton Pamezabal.
We originally planned to go on a journey in Central America for 6 month, but it grew into a 2 years stay.
There remains among us a lasting affection for the region and a special loveof the Indians of Guatemala.
We started selecting cloth, textiles and handicrafts on the markets of the Guatemalan highlands to sell them in Mexico and later in Germany.
Our shop in Berlin opened 1984.
Through our continous stays in Mexico and Guatemala, we developed friendly relations to the families of the weaver and artisans.
The collaboration with the artisans is based on fair trade with the guarantee of continous orders.
