Juniper Frost Midwinter is the first release of our Midwinter design, a a gnarled and sprawling winter tree, branches topped with snow, sits timelessly in the landscape whilst snow falls gently. A barn owl watches from one of the branches. This wrap is woven on our cream Frost warp, with a very difficult to photograph purple-grey 25% merino weft – Juniper. It is a medium weight wrap at approx. 240gsm. These wraps have not been prewashed, as we have rushed them through the process, and will need washing before you wrap with them. We will add more photos in the next few days, including action shots. This wrap is machine washable on a cold (30’C) delicates or wool cycle with low or no spin. These wraps are labelled 100% natural fibres. As a one off, whilst we are waiting for our new website to be finished, we are running this release as a draw to buy. This was decided on after much deliberation, due to the issues with overselling that we have had recently. It could be that there are enough wraps for everyone who wants one too. it is just so difficult to predict. You also know our ethos that we don’t intend to limit wraps and will weave again and again if the demand is there. We also have 2 more beautiful merino blend wraps off the loom and waiting to be chopped and hemmed, so hopefully enough wool for everyone who wants one. Here is the link for the draw entry form, and more information about the draw. http://firespiralslings.co.uk/juniper-frost-midwinter-draw/ The draw will close at 12 noon GMT on Thursday 18th December.

Firespiral is the creation of Tamsin and Jen. We are passionate about woven wraps and had a shared dream to one day have our own designs woven. We live in an area with a wonderful weaving heritage and have been lucky enough to work with a very skillful weaving company capable of weaving something really special. Our designs are inspired by the universal patterns in nature that stray into both science and myth; the magical way in which we are connected to the world and its rhythms. We live at the edge of the west pennine moors, surrounded by stone circles, local legend and the wild beauty of the hillside, with the shadows of the cotton mills in the valley below. We feel a real sense of belonging to the ancient landscape and it is from this wonderful place that our inspiration takes shape. Some of our designs are an exploration of naturally occurring pattern, and some could be more accurately described as 'story cloths'. We both have creative backgrounds, Tamsin from an architectural viewpoint and bringing her experience of transforming wraps under the guise of violet chameleon, Jen as an artist and art psychotherapist. We want our woven wraps to be both artistically beautiful and take on deeper personal meanings for their wearers.
