Something beautiful landed with us last month and I am very pleased to say that once again Firespiral have exceeded my expectations.
Firespiral, weave their wraps here in the UK, they are ethical in their production and their wide range of fibres, colours and designs ensure that there really is something for everyone. Taking their inspiration from science, nature and a bit of magic, I can genuinely see why this brand is a firm favourite with families who choose to use woven wraps.
This is Galena Callisto Seafoam, it is a blend of 25% Dove Grey Merino and 75% Cotton. Weighing 260gsm, it is light and airy and exceptionally comfortable. The wrap has excellent bounce, movement and moulds perfectly in to place every single time, creating a strong and snug carry with beautifully pleated shoulders. Galena’s alchemy weave provides a wrap that is perfect for both tiny newborns and toddlers alike.
Purple seems to be the colour for this year and the deep purple tones of Galena are striking against the Dove Grey. The familiar Seafoam design looks absolutely stunning, reminding me of seaside trips in the Summer time.
As I said before, Firespiral have once again produced a wrap that is not only stunningly beautiful but is extremely comfortable to use. You will not be disappointed, if this beauty has caught your eye and it is now available to buy in their online shop.
Firespiral is the creation of Tamsin and Jen. We are passionate about woven wraps and had a shared dream to one day have our own designs woven. We live in an area with a wonderful weaving heritage and have been lucky enough to work with a very skillful weaving company capable of weaving something really special. Our designs are inspired by the universal patterns in nature that stray into both science and myth; the magical way in which we are connected to the world and its rhythms. We live at the edge of the west pennine moors, surrounded by stone circles, local legend and the wild beauty of the hillside, with the shadows of the cotton mills in the valley below. We feel a real sense of belonging to the ancient landscape and it is from this wonderful place that our inspiration takes shape. Some of our designs are an exploration of naturally occurring pattern, and some could be more accurately described as 'story cloths'. We both have creative backgrounds, Tamsin from an architectural viewpoint and bringing her experience of transforming wraps under the guise of violet chameleon, Jen as an artist and art psychotherapist. We want our woven wraps to be both artistically beautiful and take on deeper personal meanings for their wearers.
