Mr Norman Warne joined his father’s publishing firm Frederick Warne & Co as an editor in 1894, and it shaped the remainder of his life. In 1901 Mr Warne crossed paths with a little known Beatrix Potter. Having published and funded her first literary venture herself, Beatrix found a companion in Mr Warne, and would only negotiate with him within the publishing firm. A fondness grew, and through a series of private letters, a business and personal relationship blossomed - one inspiring the other.
The Tale of Two Bad Mice was the final catalyst, with the inspiration for the characters, dolls house and dolls coming from Mr Warne’s nieces items.
During the writing of The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, Warne proposed marriage, despite living in a time where he was known to be her social inferior.
She accepted in spite of it all, for love, not social standing.
We honour Mr Warne, the publisher, creative inspiration, and companion, in this wrap.
Mr. Warne and Beatrix Potter are the last of the Beatrix Potter series of wraps to be released this summer.
Mr. Warne is supple Kingfisher linen (21%) sitting aside a heather grey luxury combed cotton (46%) on a white Egyptian cotton warp (33%). The combed cotton/ linen Geos break in very quickly and soon become amazingly soft and smushy!
Mr. Warne weighs approximately 277 gr/m2 (after washing and breaking in). With just a bit of breaking in, he will be intensely smooshy, yet strong and cushy for toddlers. The linen threads will appear to have some movement but with washing, steam ironing, and use you will see the wrap transform as the threads thicken and plump up. And in little time, it will become a floppy, soft wrap.

My vision for wraps wasn’t simply to introduce another wrap to the market. I wanted to create innovative wraps, woven from luxurious materials that were designed, manufactured and sold in the UK and abroad. Whether a mum is new or already familiar with babywearing products, I wanted my products to be lovingly conceived and appeal to all.
Woven Wings Baby wraps are woven in the UK in a renowned Mill specialising solely in bespoke high-end quality textiles. Established since 1720 working in collaboration with luxury Fashion houses and couture designers they produce fabrics that are of the highest quality and demand. Fibres are carefully and ethically sourced, and all yarns are dyed in-house allowing for one-of-kind colours. Some of my wraps will feature our non-chemical luxurious finish which makes them blankety soft straight out of the bag and requires no breaking in.
All of my wraps have been put together with significant attention to detail and a lot of love and care. I hope you enjoy many special moments with your little ones wrapped in Woven Wings.
