I usually work at night. I like the sound of silence resonating around, contrasts of light-dark. Sometimes I take a pause in drawing and look at the sky; I observe how its colour changes… Nights, when the dark is implacable and sticks to everything around, are very rare. Usually the lunar gleam makes the sphere of the sky take on different shades, from navy blue up to black.
To me dark-blue is the colour of the silence before the storm, the background for billions of stars that can be observed best during a night spent in the mountains. The colour of a foamy sea, which mightiness I admire listening to its hum, accompanied by the moonlight, that depending on its phase, changes colours from white silver to warm copper.
I am most fond of the subtle glow between gold and silver. It is a pleasant kind of light that gently underlines the outlines and doesn’t blind. This connection of contrasts is the perfect composition of colours for the most nocturnal of all my drawings; “Nocturne”.
Majestic owls emerge from the dark-blue to enfold a child whit their wings and let it safely fall into calm and deep sleep.
Owl feathers will glow for a moment in the moonlight… You probably guessed already, that this time cotton will be accompanied by linen.
An admirably elegant yarn, and natural at the same time, with a discrete gleam underlining the depth of the dark-blue.
Yarn strong like a father’s arms and equally delicate and beautiful. Just after the first wash it becomes soft as mother’s hands.
