This very sturdy pure cotton wrap fabric is woven entirely by hand in South India, in government-run co-operative societies that are committed to fair-trade and ethical production. It is available in very limited numbers only and will not be restocked. Due to its extremely limited numbers, these carriers will only be available from our website and will not be stocked by retailers.
At an airy 222 GSM, Sumac is a comfortable medium weight any-season carrier. Its satin weave gives it a slight stretch and some bounce as well as the famously strong Prism grip. This wrap shines in single layer carries like Kangaroo, Ruck and Traditional Sling Carry but has enough glide to make even multi-pass reinforced carries a breeze to tighten. As a ring sling it is easy to use yet has a sturdy grip. Its pretty red and blue checks add a touch of subtle sophistication to your look.
Sumac is perfect for new users looking for reassurance as well as more experienced babywearers who know what they like! Don’t be deceived by its thinness though -- this workhorse fabric is supremely strong and will easily support bigger children as well as newborns. You only need to wash Sumac once before use (separately in cold water by either hand or machine) and then you can get wrapping!
