Recently we noticed some disturbing signals that our wrap’s name - Lolita causes controversy.
We want to explain what we had in mind naming our wrap like we did. Our main inspiration came
from "Lolita fashion" - very popular style in Japan. This fashion is based on Victorian Era and rococo style. Lolita fashion is characterized by modest look, focus on the quality of materials and clothing production. When we finished our design we were thinking about not only ‘cuteness’ but we also wanted to make it womanly. The name of our wrap was born in the context of fashion and by no means has any relation with sexuality. Some of you wrongly associated the term with the book Lolita.
That was not our inspiration, nor it was our aim to cause controversy. We do not want to offend
anyone. We respect your opinion and we do not want to argue with anyone. Our purpose is to
promote closeness and share our love to baby-wearing. Some people suggested that we should
change the name of the wrap – which would basically mean changing the name of the whole
collection. We do not like this solution. We think it would just cause confusion and create
unnecessary problems, for instance with reselling the wraps. The name of our wrap ‘Lolita’ already
became very popular in many countries, and established its position among baby-wearing
enthusiasts. We decided not to change the name for now. The name will stay until our collection is
over. We planned to keep releasing Lolita until the end of December. In new year we will create
something new yet similar, but with a new name. It means that Lolita is slowly becoming history. We hope it will achieve ‘legend’ status making it a valuable jewel for secondary market. Therefore, there won’t be many opportunities to get a brand new Lolita wrap. Don’t miss them! There is already one right now :)
