We have two new 100% combed cotton Birch Trees that will both be available for sale in our shop from Tuesday 12th August at 9pm BST. As with all our 100% combed cotton wraps, these weigh approximately 245gsm and are buttery soft straight from the bag. They are from our Alchemy range, meaning that they are a unique colour and blend, use our special looser weave and are professionally washed and preshrunk, helping to set the weave a little before they arrive on your doorstep.
Verdant Cyano Birch Trees: 100% combed cotton
These wraps are woven on the tri-coloured Cyano warp, but the weft uses two different greens, making 5 colours of cotton at play in total. The bright yellow green and deep teal green combine to create a sumptuous and rich colour that changes tone and mimics the constant colour shifts within a deep forest. The dual coloured weft also creates a bit of extra visual texture, which enhances the natural qualities of woven cloth. Whinlatter Forest in the Lake district seemed the perfect place to take some shots of this wrap, but it is best appreciated in real life to get the fullest effect of the colour.
Firespiral is the creation of Tamsin and Jen. We are passionate about woven wraps and had a shared dream to one day have our own designs woven. We live in an area with a wonderful weaving heritage and have been lucky enough to work with a very skillful weaving company capable of weaving something really special. Our designs are inspired by the universal patterns in nature that stray into both science and myth; the magical way in which we are connected to the world and its rhythms. We live at the edge of the west pennine moors, surrounded by stone circles, local legend and the wild beauty of the hillside, with the shadows of the cotton mills in the valley below. We feel a real sense of belonging to the ancient landscape and it is from this wonderful place that our inspiration takes shape. Some of our designs are an exploration of naturally occurring pattern, and some could be more accurately described as 'story cloths'. We both have creative backgrounds, Tamsin from an architectural viewpoint and bringing her experience of transforming wraps under the guise of violet chameleon, Jen as an artist and art psychotherapist. We want our woven wraps to be both artistically beautiful and take on deeper personal meanings for their wearers.
