50% linen, 50% combed cotton
At around 309 gsm it is a heavier weight wrap which is great for wrapping heavier wrappers.
Starling Glasto Starmap, a heavyweight woven wrap, has been woven on our combed cotton, teal green, Glasto warp and uses a natural linen weft. This is the same fibre combination as our Facebook Group exclusive, Starling Glasto Murmuration.
The weft has a lovely shimmer and the beautiful slubs and irregularities that we at Firespiral love!
This is a heavier weight wrap at around 309 gsm, it is glidey on the silky soft cotton face and grippy on the linen face. It will soften with its first wash and iron, and will will get even softer with use. This is a great big kid wrap, the thickness making it very forgiving of less than perfect wrap jobs!
Firespiral is the creation of Tamsin and Jen. We are passionate about woven wraps and had a shared dream to one day have our own designs woven. We live in an area with a wonderful weaving heritage and have been lucky enough to work with a very skillful weaving company capable of weaving something really special. Our designs are inspired by the universal patterns in nature that stray into both science and myth; the magical way in which we are connected to the world and its rhythms. We live at the edge of the west pennine moors, surrounded by stone circles, local legend and the wild beauty of the hillside, with the shadows of the cotton mills in the valley below. We feel a real sense of belonging to the ancient landscape and it is from this wonderful place that our inspiration takes shape. Some of our designs are an exploration of naturally occurring pattern, and some could be more accurately described as 'story cloths'. We both have creative backgrounds, Tamsin from an architectural viewpoint and bringing her experience of transforming wraps under the guise of violet chameleon, Jen as an artist and art psychotherapist. We want our woven wraps to be both artistically beautiful and take on deeper personal meanings for their wearers.
