This pattern was created by Dani O'Sullivan and we felt it fitted perfectly in this Collection. We have consulted with a number of Maori Arts and Cultural groups regarding the design, its intended use and naming. We have received some lovely feedback on Dani's design, complimenting the development of the elements to make a connection to the natural world - fern shoots emerging from the forest floor, signalling spring and new growth.
We felt the colours work in harmony with the pattern - glimmers of the line work emerge, giving a sense of fluidity and underlying energy. The juxtaposition of the pattern's connection to spring, alongside these rich, deep colours makes a lovely connection between those of us across the globe currently moving in to different seasons. This is a classy wrap that has amazing shimmer (pictures can't capture it!), it can be used for any occasion.
From Dani -
'When I was working at the Museum of Ethnology in Leiden, there was an exhibition on Maori Art and there was a woodcarving I loved and always came back too. I started doodling it and kept mirroring and mirroring the image until it turned into this pattern. I send it to Oscha and am very thrilled that they are running it and I love how it turned out.'
This will be listed on our site tomorrow morning.
