Ankalia Mako || FUSION
Every school holidays my family and I would pack our car so that it was bursting to the seams and travel 750 odd kilometres to the Sunshine Coast and visit my grandparents for a few weeks of sunshine, frivolity, laughs and love. We were so lucky to have both sets of grandparents living within half an hour of each other.
On the occasions when we stayed with my paternal grandparents we would spend hours shell collecting and exploring the rock pools down at Point Cartwright.
The iconic sharp rocky outcrop was the inspiration for Mako. The geometric rocks, the perfect hiding places for tiny inhabitants to seek shelter from the tumultuous waves that crash by the second, not to mention the areas striking beauty. The monoliths erupt out of the ocean and flow down to the smooth volcanic flats that seem to disappear into the water. In the late afternoon the rocks take on a deep blue black as the turquoise waves roll over them filling the pools with life.
Point Cartwright is still one of my favourite places and like an old friend it welcomed us back to photograph Mako here.

An Ankalia wrap or ring sling is designed to be an effective parenting tool in your day to day life. Our carriers will allow you to get the basic tasks done while keeping your baby or toddler close. Our carriers will help you with anything from the vacuuming to shopping on a holiday at the beach, with your child right by your side.
Making sure that Ankalia is made within Australia is important to us. Many manufacturers are obsessed with producing their products as cheaply as possible, which generally means sending their wares offshore to be produced. We wanted Ankalia to be Australian designed, woven, and hand finished, as the babywearing world was calling for a premier Australian product - and we need to be satisfied that our fabrics are made in an ethical manner. Our designs are hand sketched by local artisans, and their trade and skill is transformed into fabrics literally designed to embrace your babies.
