bebe sachi sister magic (silk)
bebe sachi sister magic (silk)
8 June 2018
;
Our fabulous EXCLUSIVE for Magic Summer 2018.
We are delighted to be part of the Magic Summer event in London this year (less than 3 weeks to go!). It's proving to be an event like none we've attended before. And what's more it's local to Azizah - she works and lives in London with her hubby and two sons.
This is a very very short run of both cotton and silk. It is the blessed month of Ramadan for our devoted weavers and much of the month is spent in quiet prayer and reflection. I think you'll be able to feel the thoughtful skill that has gone into weaving these immaculate pieces!
To receive and invoice - please fill in this form by 10pm (BST) Friday 8th JUNE

Seroja Biru (pink rails)
“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” – Mulan Seroja Ungu & Biru with pink rails is yet another super micro release of the Seroja series with only 2 pieces of each size made! A pinkish signature rail has been chosen this time to represent compassion, understanding, nurturing and unconditional love. Just like the lotus flower, we all have the ability to rise from adversity, bloom out of the darkness, opening our hearts to radiate peace and love into the world. This wrap is part of the Bebe Sachi Nature Series where we derive our inspiration from nature. Inspired by the colours of the beautiful Seroja (Lotus) flower, this invigorating and beautifully crafted wrap is truly something special. Seroja is native to southern and eastern parts of Asia or better known as Tropical Asia. This wrap gives an impression of a Bebe Sachi Khadi at first look but it is not. The blue warp colour combined with the 2 weft options (made from several yarns put together) and yellowish rails simply add liveliness to the wrap. The rails are there not only for aesthetic purposes but also to allow assessment of tension, check positioning and to ensure there is an easily identifiable top and bottom rail. These wraps will be produced in very small quantities (less than 10 for each design). This wrap has either a purplish or bluish look to it. The red tinge in Seroja Ungu comes from the Red, Yellow & Black weft yarns while the variation in colour for Seroja Biru comes from the combination of White, Yellow and Black weft yarns. Details of the wrap: ~ 100% cotton ~ Surface weight: 243gsm ~ Wrap width is 27 inches

Permata Amethyst is the 2nd release from our Permata Series. Permata which translates to Gem or Jewel is also commonly used as a term for endearment in Malaysia. Permata can mean something precious or dear to your heart. We felt the name truly reflects how we feel about this project and our family of weavers. ~100% cotton, jacquard weave ~ Narrower than any other Bebe Sachi wraps with a width of 25 inches ~ Surface weight = 200 gsm ~ Dark Purple Warp with shades of lilac or lavender weft options ~ Weaver : Munir (our Master weaver) We have named it Amethyst Dawn and Dusk respectively. More pictures and reviews are available on our facebook group "Bebe Sachi Love" This time round we have decided to put aside some fabric to be turned into shawls with fringes. The shawls are 2.5m in length and the fringes are done by Munir's wife. We experimented with tied and twisted fringes for the shawls which you can see in the pictures.

he Rebung Series is special to us in many ways and we are not talking about the wrap by the way but rather the journey itself. For those of us who have worked behind the scenes, whenever a new wrap is released we always reflect upon our journey to where we are now. Sigh....what a long and arduous journey it was indeed! Alhamdulillah (Praise to God) ....we are grateful that our weavers managed to weave throughout winter for Erinite & Chrysolite. Even though the preparations of yarns started way before that but the weaving for Rebung is always a tedious and slow process. However, seeing how beautiful these lovelies turned out really makes the wait well worth it! These wraps are a 100% cotton and has a surface weight of 244 gsm. Rebung is a special jacquard weave because it has 2 layers of warp. We have used Variegated Teal Cyan Aqua & Cream for the warp and 2 wefts (Cream and Gray) respectively. Master Weaver Munir and weaver Zainal worked on these wraps. The wraps are aptly named after the precious stones Erinite and Chrysolite for their beautiful colours. So you get to choose between a cream (Chrysolite) or gray(Erinite) weft. We hope that this will make a perfect start to the new year! May this new year fill your hearts with new hope, opens up new horizons & bring for you promises of brighter tomorrows!

Bornean Series 2016
(Attacus Atlas)
Background: Please welcome the long awaited third sibling in the Bebe Sachi Bornean series, Attacus, named after the magnificent Atlas moth. Yes, you may think it rather absurd, naming a wrap after a moth, because in reality, producing textiles means avoiding moths at all costs! But Attacus Atlas is no ordinary household moth. Once thought to be the largest moth in the world, it is commonly found throughout the Malay Archipelago. Named after the Titan of Greek mythology, or in Cantonese, the name translates to "snake's head moth” as the wing pattern is thought to resemble a snake's head; the Atlas moth is simply stunning. Looking at the hand painted, ikat technique, design of the wrap, you can see the master dyer capture abstracted moth wing flutterings in deep purples and pink, not too dissimilar to Attacus. Our love for Borneo and everything it represents inspired us to produce this series. Rita and Azizah spent many formative childhood years in Sabah and Sarawak and remain closely tied to the area today. The abundance of insects in Borneo is astounding, with many new species being discovered every year. Azizah has fond memories studying insects of all shapes and sizes with scientists from Sabah Universities in areas like the Poring Hotsprings and around Mt Kinabalu. Often a simple lamp left on outside the chalet was enough to attract a huge variety of exciting insects to study. Today, Azizah’s father still ventures out on long scientific expeditions but often reports “there just isn’t as many insects as when you were younger”. We are hopeful that our children will grow up to continue to appreciate nature and maybe , ...even spot the wonderful Attacus Atlas!
