Have you seen the cartoon "Song of the Sea"?
The first time I watched it with my whole family I saw tears in my 6-year-old son's eyes. It was the first time I saw him moved which made me equally moved, if not more.

I was already familiar with the legend of the Selkies but it was because of my son's tiny tears falling down his cheeks that I decided to create a wrap with the Selkies.
The story of the Selkies is a celtic legend telling about a woman-seal, who decides to come ashore leaving the life she knew and starting a family with a male human.

When I wrote to the talented Joanna Izydor about my idea, she instantly loved it.
A moment later I received a sketch with a pattern that right away stole my heart and the hearts of my family.

I felt as if Joanna was reading my thoughts as the pattern was a perfect reflection of what I had in mind!

Joanna, my soulmate, you are the best!

As always, we used the yarns of the best quality to make this piece of art happen.
Tsumugi silk which is as soft as a sponge, with beautiful colourful nubs, adds charm to the sling and makes it hold the load so well.
Vegan and tussah silk gives it an exclusive touch.

Your collection will simply be incomplete without this beauty!

The wrap is 265 gsm. One side is soft and cosy which makes it ideal for a baby but due to a palpable structure on the other side it is strong enough and has a good enough grip for a toddler.
After washing the sling gains a 3D structure, which can be even seen in the photos.

Part of the proceeds from the sales of the wraps will go towards adoption of TWO seals from Seal Rescue Island in County Wexford!!!

We highly encourage you to support seal rescue centres in your area. Some of them might be Selkies, you never know.

We would like to introduce you to a wonderful sling which brought together a number of fantastic ladies!

For the warp one of the best LS cottons has been used, the cotton with fibers twice as long as in the standard cotton, which makes the fabric stronger, smoother and softer.

For the weft, we used West African cotton which is collected by hand unlike most cottons that are machine harvested. The manual harvesting process ensures the best quality of the cotton fibres.
It is a fair trade product the sale of which helps to support small West African communities.

We also used two different types of merino wool, one with confetti nubs for the groovy looks and another which is organic and natural, not subjected to any dying or other chemical processes with the natural thermo regulatory properties - it is cool in summer and warm in winter.

The sling is relatively thick, approx. 300 gsm so it is great for toddlers or for experienced parents of smaller babies.
There are only five of these beauties made!

The island of Takapoto in Tuamotu Archipelago is a special place for us. 🌏🙌🏻

This is a place where pearl bearing oysters are cultivated.

This is where Aumai’s father showed us how one can comfortably dive to 30 metres on one breath to look for those PERFECT SHELLS. 🌊🐚

Our shells are woven as pocket weave.
This type of weaving creates a thick double layer with space in the middle giving the fabric a fluffy, springy feel and making it porous and breathable.

Peruvian Pima Cotton is extremely soft, strong and simply one of the best types of cotton in the universe. Combed cotton is a gentle, natural and durable fibre, which is not prone to fraying and tearing. Cashmere is a luxury goat wool . Feather-light and soft to touch, cashmere is a great choice for your baby's sensitive skin. In conjunction with merino wool it makes the sling soft, smooth to touch, and adds this luxurious feel to it.
